20-30 June, 2017 Home Visits Conducted During NFM-QTR-06 by TFHI-CHBC Team Muzaffarabad

The main objective of home visit is to counsel, and test the family members of PLHIVs, and to give them awareness about HIV/AIDS prevention, and treatment in case of being reactive. In the context of TFHI-CHBC Muzaffarabad, the activity has twofold significance as with the help of activity we not only visit patients but also deliver them related services at their door steps. Keeping in view the vast area & scattered population the team planned carefully home visit activity and shortlisted all those clients who were either not visited before or who were most deserving and vulnerable.

16 June, 2017 Awareness Session Delivered During NFM-QTR-06 by TFHI-CHBC Team Muzaffarabad

In continuation of our efforts for the sustainability of community & Home Base Care Program, team of CHBC Muzaffarabad conducted awareness sessions under the banner of TFHI. To break the stigma associated with HIV/AIDS the team at TFHIC-CHBC MZD launched a comprehensive awareness campaign in NFM-06 and approached all the communities and delivered awareness sessions regarding HIV/AIDS including its causes, symptoms, and treatment mechanism.

16 June, 2017 Monitoring Visits Conducted By The Officials Of NACP & PACP Durnig NFM-QTR-06 - TFHI-CHBC Team Muzaffarabad

The monitoring visits are aimed at improving the efficiency of community & home bare care centers throughout Pakistan including the State of Azad Jammu & Kashmir. 13 June, 2017 SSR Visit For Need Assessment at Harripur by TFHI-CHBC Team Muzaffarabad

On 13 June 2017, SSR visits are mandatory under each New Funding Model and its main objectives are to follow up ‘loss to follow up’ patients and to conduct monitoring for the provision of loan facility. Under NFM-06 the project manager at TFHI-CHBC conducted extensive SSR monitoring exercise and he not only managed to monitor the patients provided loan facility in NFM-05 but also successfully managed to assess a patient living in the remote area of Disrtict Bagh for the provision of loan. Moreover, the project manager also successfully managed to comprehend the ‘Need Assessment ‘of newly registered client at CHBC MZD residing in District Harripur.

08 June, 2017 Awareness Session at Alyan Public School & College Patehka By TFHI-CHBC Team Muzaffarabad

On 08 June 2017,CHBC Team Muzaffarabad conducted an awareness session, in coordination with Dept. of Social Welfare Govt. of state of AJK, at Social Welfare Complex & Women Development Center Muzaffarabad AJK. Session was conducted by Miss Saima Maqbool Community Counselor and assisted by team of outreach workers. The session was well attended by management & staff of Social Welfare Department where awareness were given regarding causes, symptoms, prevention and treatment HIV/AIDS. A detailed question & answer session were followed where audience were requested for their support to break the stigma associated with this disease and seek helping hand in transforming healthy atmosphere in society. The manager Social Welfare Complex & Women Development Center Muzaffarabad AJK Mrs. Rukhsana Aziz while apprizing the efforts of CHBC team assured her full support of such events in future. The session was started with the recitation of the Holy Quran and followed by the presentation of Ms. Saima Maqbool the community counselor at CHBC Muzaffarabad. The presentation included introduction to TFHI, its community & home base project and primary information regarding HIV/AIDS its symptoms, causes and treatment. The session was well attended by the staff & students of Ayan Public School & College Patehka. The presentation was concluded with the message thanks delivered by the community counselor.

31 May, 2017 Awareness Session at Govt. College of Education Muzaffarabad By TFHI-CHBC Team Muzaffarabad

On 31 May 2017, the team of outreach workers expedited their coordination with the people belonging to different spheres of life and the aforementioned activity was coordinated with the ‘GOVT COLLEGE OF EDUCATION’ Upper Chatter Muzaffarabad AJK. Principal of the institute Mr. Raja Naseer Khan while welcoming team of TFHI-CHBC stressed the importance of awareness sessions in reducing the stigma associated with HIV/AIDS. introductory session was conducted by Ms. Saima Maqbool the Community Counselor at TFHI-CHBC Muzaffarabad. A detailed session was followed through Multimedia presentation about “TFHI”, its mandate and scope. The project manager briefed the participants about the disease, its causes, symptoms and treatment mechanism. The project manager during his presentation focused the attention of the audience on the stigma associated with the disease and asked the teachers to organize awareness sessions in their own capacity so that the general populace may be given primary information about the menace of HIV/AIDS.

26 May, 2017 Awareness and Testing Activity By TFHI-CHBC Team Muzaffarabad

On 28 May 2017, to undertake outreach activities the team of outreach workers coordinated with the Health Department and Social welfare department and community facilitator Mr. Rana Rasheed and imparted the agenda of TFHI-CHBC Muzaffarabad. Mr Amjad Ghani Mir and Miss Saima Maqbool successfully managed to deliver the awareness session regarding HIV/AIDS its causes, symptoms, and treatment. Meanwhile, Mr. Bilal Amjad delivered pre-post counseling sessions to the most vulnerable clients from the MARP code of Migrants.

18 May, 2017 Awareness Campaigns By TFHI-CHBC Team Quetta

On 18 May 2017, CHBC Quetta planned and organized different activities for their awareness campaign against HIV/Aids. The event calendar was developed regarding HIV/AIDS with PACP and TFHI Team till October, 2017 at Quetta and other areas of Balochistan. CHBC team conducted awareness campaign from Elementary College Quetta, Govt Girls High School Ameenabad Quetta, where students and teaching staff attended this awareness session.

11 May, 2017 HIV Testing During NFM-QTR-06 by TFHI-CHBC Team Muzaffarabad

Pre-test counseling session regarding general awareness about HIV/AIDS was conducted. Participants were briefed about the spread, symptoms and its prevention. After a comprehensive session, when the community became ready, screening tests were done for HIV. Special emphasis was given to those who were having symptoms, and signs resemble to HIV, for long time. After screening, post counseling session was conducted with clients reactive to the tests, while, non-reactive clients were counseled about HIV, prevention, care and treatment.

28 April, 2017 Coordination Meetings Undertaken During NFM-06 by TFHI-CHBC Team Muzaffarabad

To address the HIV/AIDS issue on larger scale it is indispensable to impart the agenda of the community & home base care facility model to governmental as well as non-governmental echelons. The team at TFHI-CHBC not only keeps delivering awareness session regarding HIV/AIDS but also approaches the relevant governmental and private bodies capable in hunting the HIV/AIDS patients. In this connection under the QTR-NFM-06 following representatives from different hierarchical levels were invited.

24 April, 2017 Chairman Taaleem Foundation visits CHBC Quetta

On 24 April 2017, Chairman Taaleem Foundation Dr. Zafar Iqbal Qadir along with TF Head Office team visited CHBC Quetta. The team was briefed about the services of CHBC Quetta. Also Dr. Zafar Iqbal Qadir and CEO of new initiatives conducted meeting with PACP Balochistan, Socio Pak and Legend Society at CHBC Quetta for future planning for fund raising for HIV/AIDS in Baluchistan.

08 April, 2017 Fruit Day Celebration at TFGS Mastung

On 08 April 2017, Students of class one celebrate fruits day with the objective to create awareness and educate children about the importance of fruits in our regular diet. All the Students were found to be dressed in the costumes of fruits. Students were asked to bring fruit of their choice for their snack time. Teacher explained the different varieties of fruit and the importance of their intake in diet for physical and mental growth. The children were introduced to health benefits of having fruit in their everyday diet.

29-31 March, 2017 Sub Sub Recepient (SSR) Monitoring/Follow Up Visits By TFHI-CHBC Team Muzaffarabad

The activity is strongly recommended by PR/SR and a separate head of budget has been allocated for meeting the expense of visits. The visits are planned mainly either to find out the patients who are lost to follow up or to conduct a monitoring visit for the financial help provided to ‘already skilled people’.

01 Feb, 2017 Awareness session conducted with Truck and Coach drivers of Sada Bahar Terminal, Pakistan State Oil and Hazar Ganji Truck and Coach Adda by TFHI-CHBC Team Quetta

The awareness sessions were conducted for the truck and coach drivers in three different terminals in Quetta. The truck and coach driver are the key population we are focusing in this project as they were the high risk group in other words. In the end of session testing and counseling session was held and in three different spots.

01 Feb, 2017 Coordination Meeting conducted with Medical Superintendent of private hospitals Quetta by TFHI-CHBC Team Quetta

During this quarter CHBC team tried to coordinate with all private hospital functioning in the Quetta District. The purpose was to visit all private hospitals to build a strong coordination among them and also check the case incidence, referral mechanism, and follow up of HIV/AIDS cases for further treatment. They were also inquired about the screening tests for HIV/AIDS clients in the hospital lab. They replied that they did rapid test method for screening as Mission Hospital, Lady Deffrin hospital is the charity hospital charged very nominal charges from patients, so the MS request us to kindly provide us Eliza machine for advance testing.

01 Feb, 2017 Coordination Meeting with provincial head of Agha Khan and Shoukat Khanam Laboratories by TFHI-CHBC Team Quetta

The purpose of the visit was to coordinate with Labs at all level working in Quetta. The provincial in-charged were briefed about the role and functions of CHBC and ART for HIV /AIDS clients and their family members. They were further asked about the referral machenazum of HIV patients after diagnosis. They simply replied that we did not know that there is any treatment center existed in Quetta for HIV clients.

26 Jan 2017 Coordination Meeting with Blood Banks at Al-Mausom and Pashtoon Khwah by TFHI-CHBC Team Quetta

Purpose of visit was Pashtoon Khawah blood bank has seven branches throughout Balochistan. They are during this quarter blood banks are visited. The main purpose of the coordination was, as the blood banks were the main spots where blood screening has performed for different diagnosis and they were referred from private hospitals & Physicians. So we have very good coordination with some of the well known Blood Banks.

25 Jan 2017 Counseling through house hold visits at Pashtonabad Quetta by TFHI-CHBC Team Quetta

The main purpose of the visit was to give counseling to PLHIV families and motivate them for testing. They were oriented and provide additional information about HIV/AIDS prevention and their mode of transmission. The families are further guided that how the PLHIV will be behaved in different circumstances, in case of any injury at home, how this will be treated at home and how will you protect yourself and other member of the family.

During the reported quarter under the supervision of the project manager the team of outreach workers (ORWs) chalked out a comprehensive plan of outreach and extensive outreach and coordination efforts were done. The team of ORWs successfully expended their outreach activities in the district of Neelum and in NFM Quarter-5 CHBC team has been successful to streamline the Social Welfare Department of the Govt. of Azad Jammu & Kashmir which has been entrusted the authority to regulate and monitor the activities of projects operated by NGOs or INGOs.

01 Jan-30 March, 2017 VCCT Testing during NFM QTR-5 by TFHI-CHBC Team Muzaffarabad

TFHI-CHBC team successfully managed to achieve targets as set by National AIDS Control Program (NACP) and shared through PACP. Despite scattered population and stigma associated with the disease during this quarter 125 individuals were pre and post counseled and screening of HIV /AIDS were conducted to the families who came at CHBC site for confirmation of HIV/AIDs. Pre-test counseling was done, followed by test that was found negative. They were later on provided awareness about HIV/ AIDS, care, treatment and its prevention.

01 Jan 2017 Awareness Sessions with Motor bike mechanics and Rickshaw drivers by TFHI-CHBC Team Quetta

Awareness sessions conducted for Motor bike Mechanics during the month of January, 2017, this was the group counseling in different spots through outreach workers. The purpose of the session was to create awareness among the general population about HIV/AIDS and their mode of transmission. 17-19 Dec 2016 SSR visit to District Noshki

This was the regular SSR visit which was planned in the month of December. District Noshki was selected for visit. This District was on 6th number according to the load of HIV/Aids clients. This was two days visit conducted on December 17th with numerous objectives. The purpose of the visit was 1. To conduct meetings with Govt officials about the case incidence and the follow up and referral mechanism of HIV/AIDS cases in District Noshki, 2. To conduct meeting with MS DHQ hospital and visit DHQ Lab as well to build a coordination of HIV/AIDS cases for future referral, 3. To carry out meeting with private practitioners’ how they respond to HIV/AIDS client in their private setup, 4. To conduct household visits to PLHIVs and their families for counseling and testing on site data validation.

28 Nov 2016 Social Mobilization Sessions conducted by WESS

During the quarter, the Outreach Workers visited a number of communities with the potential threat of HIV and conducted awareness sessions for high risk groups and general population to sensitize and mobilize them about health, hygiene, nutrition and usage of contraceptive for stay healthy. World HIV/AIDS day was celebrated on December 1st all over the world. In the context of this day CHBC Quetta have conducted joint awareness session with Afghan females in the community with WESS organization.

11 Nov 2016 Visit of UNICEF Delegation

A delegation from Unicef visited the CHBC facility at Muzaffarabad to enquire about the spread of HIV/AIDS in AJK region. Three member delegation headed by Dr. Samia Hashim Health & Nutrition Specialist, Dr. Aysha Khan CEO Research and Development Solution and Dr. Nasir Sarfraz HIV/AIDS Specialist was warmly received by Project Manager. Session was fruitful as agenda and mandate of TFHI- CHBC facility was successfully communicated and it was also agreed to have coordination in future.

08 Nov 2016 Coordination Meeting conducted with PACP (CHBC CoPC SOCIO PAK,Danish, PACP ART)

Coordination meeting of the CHBC, CoPC+, ART and PACP staff was held in PACP to build a strong coordination among the organization to functional smoothly. 03 Oct 2016 Food Festival at TFGS Mastung

On 03 Oct 2016, Food Festival along with Parents-Teachers Meeting was held at TFGS Mastung. The main purpose of this activity is making the students to able understanding the importance of balance and healthy diet. Make them understand the problems, which are faced by the parents when they earn for them. The students are advised to prepare healthy foods for festival. Write benefits of food on charts. Give a good name their stall. Decorate stall by different things. Make assure the cleanliness during the preparation and presenting their dishes. Cover all food items and insist other students to wash their hands before eating. Mostly the parents help their children in the preparation of different dishes but some of them practically participate in all day long in selling process. All of the parents attended this event and checked 9 months papers record of students, discussed academic problems of their children , fill a proforma regarding performance of administration and then enjoy food festival.

01 June 2016 First Aid Awareness Programme at TFGS Pishin

On 1st June 2016, an Awareness Programme was held at Taaleem Foundation Grammar School (TFGS), Pishin. During this program, Ms. Safia Sajid (DFAT) of PRC Balochistan conducted a First Aid workshop. This workshop covered the procedure for dressing a wound, controlling bleeding, and treating bone fractures and choking. The staff and students were highly satisfied with the Awareness Programme, and particularly so with the First Aid workshop. One student said “we did not know how to give first aid treatment in an emergency, but now we do”. PRC awarded all students certificates of participation.

26 May 2016 Pakistani philanthropist receives award at Global Donors Forum in Istanbul

ISTANBUL, 26 MAY 2016: Noted Pakistani philanthropist and Chairman of Taaleem Foundation Dr. Zafar Iqbal received Global Good Governance Award on behalf of his organization at an impressive ceremony during Global Donors Forum 2016, a biennial event of the World Congress of Muslim Philanthropists. Ambassador of Malaysia in Turkey H.E. Mr. Dato' Amran Mohamed Zin conferred the Award on Taaleem Foundation for having developed and deployed global good governance practices in promoting education in Pakistan. The Award was granted in the category of female education.

During Global Donors Forum (GDF) held from 25-26 May in Istanbul and chaired by Dr. Sare Davutoglu and Dr. Aisha Faleh Al-Thani, prominent leaders from the government, business, and charitable sectors as well as academicians and researchers discussed critical issues including social finance, impact of philanthropy for SDGs, resilience and radicalization, diplomacy and strategic communication and philanthropic response to refugees crisis. First GDF was held in Istanbul in 2008 and was chaired by then Prime Minister of Turkey Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan. GDF 2016 discussed setting new priorities and redefining the role of philanthropy, with a focus on the Muslim World in a changing global landscape.

Dr. Zafar Iqbal established Taaleem Foundation as a non-profit community support organization in 1989. It is now imparting education in the far-flung areas of Pakistan. Dr Zafar has been a senior professional in public sector with a significant diversity in roles and experience from philanthropy to private sector support, corporate sector facilitation and public sector service delivery. Dr Zafar Qadir - recipient of Global Good Governance Award of the year at Global Donors Forum in Istanbul Turkey is former Chairman NDMA and former Secretary IT & Telecom at Government of Pakistan.

Global Good Governance Awards “3G Awards” are based on a proprietary methodology “3G Methodology” developed by Cambridge IF Analytical. 3G Methodology is based on a score card called “3G Card”. From the four nominations in each category, the winners are selected through a global poll. 27 April 2016 Inaugural ceremony of Community & Home Base Care “CHBC” facility at Muzaffarabad, AJK

On 27 April 2016, The inaugural ceremony of Community & Home Base Care “CHBC” facility at Muzaffarabad commenced at D-75, Upper Chattar Housing Scheme with the ribbon cutting by Honorable Chief Guest Dr. Tashfeen Khan, Additional Chief Secretary (Dev.) Govt. of the State of Azad Jammu & Kashmir. Honorable Chairman Taaleem Foundation Dr. Zafar Qadir, Madam Taqdees Gillani and other dignitaries along with the project manager Mr. Amjad Ghani Mir & his team of Community & Home Base Care facility graced the event. Venue of the main function was a local hotel where Mr. Kh. 01 March 2016 Global Fund extends its operation in Pakistan

From 01 March, 2016 Global Fund extendeds its operations in Pakistan and New funding Module is in place for first quarter starting from March, 2016 to June, 2016. CHBC Muzaffarabad is in coordination with PACP to formalize the new contract between PACP and TFHI.


01 January 2016 - 29 February 2016 CHBC Muzaffarabad - Second Quarter

In second quarter ( From Jan,2016 to Feb, 2016) CHBC Muzaffarabad team was successful in registering sixteen PLHIV’s, Providing all Program related facilitation, conducting Quarterly Strategic meetings/Group meetings etc. Reopening of our CHBC was a very big success after hectic negotiations with officials of Govt. of AJK.


24 December 2015 Chairman TF meeting with CHBC Muzaffarabad Team

On 24 December 2015, The Chairman TF had a meeting with the Muzaffarabad team of 'Taaleem Foundation Health Initiative' (TFHI) during their field visit to CHBC site, Rawalpindi. The team is dedicated to public health interventions, with focus on counseling, testing, referral and follow up of the HIV patients.

01 December 2015 World Aids Day 2015

World AIDS Day is held on the 1 st December each year and is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died. World AIDS Day was the first ever global health day, held for the first time in 1988. Globally there are an estimated 34 million people who have the virus. Despite the virus only being identified in 1984, more than 35 million people have died of HIV or AIDS, making it one of the most destructive pandemics in history while there are were around 100,000 people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV) in the country. However, there were 15,370 people registered in 21 HIV treatment centers, across the country.

World AIDS Day is an opportunity to show support to and solidarity with the millions of people living with HIV. World’s AIDS Day- on 1 st of December-2015 TFHI-CHBC- MZD celebrated World AIDS Day activity in order to support the efforts of international community in spreading awareness about HIV-AIDS. TFHI-CHBC- started its working in the month of October-2015. The project team including Project Manager, four Outreach Workers, a Counselor, a Data Entry Operator and Admin and Finance Officer, were hired through proper procedures.


07 November 2015 Polio Vaccination at TFGS Loralai

On 10 November 2015, Polio vaccination team from health department visited the TFGS Loralai. The vaccinated 22 students of Nursery and 12 students of Prep. The polio vaccination team appreciate the cooperation and help of TFGS Loralai management during the activity. The Principal TFGS Loralai offered them full support and assured them for such type of activities in the future.

07 November 2015 Global Hand Washing Day at TFGS Sui

On 07 November 2015, Global Hand washing day was celebrated and organized by Sui Field Hospital in collaboration with Sui Model School & College and Taaleem Foundation Grammar School Sui at SMS&C.

The event covered Speech competition and Poster competition followed by speeches and presentations by doctors of Sui Field Hospital on the importance of Hygiene. Students presented a skit and a song.

Three girls participated from TFGS Sui. A speech on" importance of cleanliness in Islam" in urdu by Fatima of class 7 and drawing of logo of Global Hand washing Day by Shehla of class 7 and Durdana of class 5. Principal TFGS Sui also addressed the public and offered to host the event next year.

15 October 2015 Global Hand Washing Day at TFGS Pishin

On October 15 2015, Global Hand Washing Day was held at TF Pishin. Deputy Director Mr. Aftab Aziz and town planner Mr. Rehan Najam visited the school and briefed the students about cleanliness and hand washing before every meal. The students from different classes do activities with them and trophies were distributed among best students of speech competition. They also distributed the the gifts pack among the students.

23 - 28 April 2015 Health and Hygiene Awareness at TF Zhob

TFHI organized “Hygiene and Cleanliness” week at Asad Memorial TF Grammar School, Zhob. The district administration, parents’ body, school staff and the students were all mobilized for raising awareness among community on personal health, hygiene and cleanliness. Parent-teacher sessions were also held, besides dialogues, discussions and demonstration of various activities at school. The students cleaned the entire school premises and effectively disseminated the message of hygiene and cleanliness to their siblings, parents and neighbours.

Dr Daud Qazi – Director (Operations) meets Mr. Abdullah Butt – CEO of TeleCast, our technology partner at Karachi with respect to new R&D initiatives in public health sector. They discussed the possibility of introducing authentic ECG recording and data dissemination solution through hand-held device; and minimizing the cost of e-Health related gadgets.


24 April 2015 Senator Usman Kakar meets Chairman TFHI for e-Clinic at Muslim Bagh

Senator Usman Khan Kakar called on the Chairman and Director (Operations) of TFHI at Quetta to congratulate TFHI on successful launch of first e-Clinic in Pakistan. He appreciated the selection of the provincial capital of Balochistan for this initiative; and requested for establishing a similar facility at Muslim Bagh – his hometown. He promised to provide all infrastructure and HR support for this facility. It was decided to launch e-Clinic in Muslim Bagh during the next few weeks.


21 April 2015 Visit of Dr Q visits CHBC

Dr Daud Qazi (Dr Q) – the Board Member / Director Operations of Taaleem Foundation as well as TFHI visits CHBC Quetta for supervising and monitoring the activities of field staff. He held a meeting with the team members and interacted with the community representatives at CHBC. He also met a few suspects of HIV and counseled them for safe living and responsible social behavior.

21 April 2015 Chairman and Dr Q meet CEO of NexSource

Chairman and Director (Operations) TFHI had a detailed meeting with Mr Nazir Ahmad Vaid, thanking the later on his voluntary and philanthropic support and services provided to TFHI in setting up the first ever e-Clinic in Pakistan. The two sides discussed the issues of mutual interest and decided to continue refining the primary healthcare system by way of more focused R&D input in technological integration in health service delivery. Mr Vaid also offered to develop and provide more sophisticated software for for TFHI for effective managing, monitoring and tracking of HIV registered patients.


20 April 2015 Health Minister Balochistan visits TFHI at Quetta

Mir Rehmat Saleh Baloch, Provincial Health Minister of Balochistan visited CHBC site of TFHI and was briefed on the ongoing project activities with respect to community based facilitation services to people living with HIV / AIDS. Mr Abdul Qadeer, the project lead briefed the Minister. The Minister appreciated the efforts of TFHI in serving the communities with utmost dedication and sense of responsibility. He also thanked Dr Zafar Qadir for his pioneering efforts towards public health concerns in Pakistan.

20 April 2015 Launching of e-Clinic at Quetta

TFHI launches the first e-Clinic of Pakistan in Quetta. Mr Rahmat Saleh Baloch, Provincial Minister for Health inaugurated the facility as Chief Guest. Mr Noor-ul-Haq Baloch, Provincial Health Secretary also graced the occasion. The facility provides technology-enabled EMR (Electronic Medical Record) for each patient along with differential diagnosis and suggestive prescription at the remote end, using specially designed electronic gadgets. Live data is shared with the doctors online for interaction with patient, using video collaborative network. Upon confirmation by the doctors the patient are either dispensed with the medicines or referred to specialist consultants for advanced investigation and treatment.

20 April 2015 Mr Nazir Ahmad Vaid from NexSource trains TFHI staff on u-Health and e-Health

Prior to the launch of the first ever e-Clinic of Pakistan, Mr Nazir Ahmad Vaid – CEO of NexSource provided technical training to the staff of TFHI at Quetta for operations and operational maintenance of u-Health kit. Training was also imparted on generating EMR (Electronic Medical Record) of each patient, generating differential diagnosis, linkage with doctors at far end through video conferencing, getting prescription from the doctors online and arranging referrals where needed.


16 April 2015 Measles Campaign at TF Mastung

Mr. Sultan - District Health Officer Mastung, responding to the request of TFHI, sent his team of health service professionals along with immunization supplies to dispense the measles drops to the students of TF Grammar School, Mastung. Nearly 600 students availed this opportunity. The team also took a session with the staff and students on awareness raising about personal health and hygiene. We appreciate the contributive support of district health authorities of Mastung of coming up to our expectations and providing much needed service to the younger generation.


14 April 2015 Measles Campaign at TF Zhob

TFHI organized measles campaign at TF Grammar School Zhob, where district health authorities were invited for immunization services with respect to measles for all the students of Asad Memorial TF Grammar School, Zhob. More than 500 students availed this great opportunity at school. We are thankful to district administration for supporting us in this endeavor.


20 March 2015 Chairman TF / TFHI launches first “e-School” in Pakistan

Dr Zafar Qadir, who happens to be the founding Chairman of Taaleem Foundation and TF Health initiative launched the first “e-School” at the premises of Dost Foundation, where these services would be made available to the street children and street children on GRATIS basis. The Chairman appreciated the forthcoming and welcoming approach of the management of Dost Foundation trust and handed over the access to soft curriculum, in the form of animated videos with voice-over recording in Pashto, Urdu and English. Taaleem Foundation is pleased to adopt this facility at Peshawar and would continue to support such endeavours anywhere in Pakistan.


20 March 2015 TFHI joins hands with DOST Foundation, Peshawar

Dr Zafar Qadir – Chairman TFHI called on Dr Parveen Azam Khan – the Chairperson of Dost Foundation at Peshawar; and had a round of the state of the art facilities managed by the Foundation. Dost Foundation is a family trust of Mr. Azam Khan (PAS – former Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) and his wife – Dr Parveen Azam Khan, who herself is a renowned public health professional and has devoted herself to this noble cause. The trust has established 500-bed facilities for the rehabilitation of street children in Peshawar. The two philanthropic organizations joined hands to complement and supplement each other for all interventions of mutual interest. May this partnership deliver best community services to the neglected segment of our society – the drug users and street children.


8-12 March 2015 Chairman attends Regional Conference at Tehran on drugs / HIV Management

Chairman represents private sector public health service providers at a regional conference in Tehran, where delegates from Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan participated to deliberate upon the efficacy of NSP (Needle & Syringe Program) and OST (Oral Substitution Therapy) and work out some appropriate techniques of managing the patients of drug use (injecting drug users) and those living with HIV. The one-week consultations concluded in adopting modern techniques of patients’ management with supporting legislative reforms and awareness campaigns in this regard.


07 February 2015 Chairman visits Cleft Centre at Gujrat

Chairman, along with Dr Farah Naz – CEO of TFHI and Dr Izhar Hashmi (Akhuwat) visit Cleft Centre at Gujrat, which is an state of the art facility, being managed and operated by Dr Ejaz Bashir, a lead philanthropist in the sector. The trust of communities and satisfaction level of the beneficiaries was extremely commendable. Wish we had more of him in Pakistan.


06 February 2015 TFHI links up with NexSource

TFHI links up with NexSource for deploying u-Health kits developed by NexSource. Meeting of the Chairman with Mr Nazir Ahmad Vaid of NexSource remained very productive in this regard. The NexSource offered to provide ten units of u-Health kits for TF institutions in the first phase; and then provide on actual cost basis for up scaling of the project.


06 February 2015 TFHI links up with Medibank for free supply of medicines

Chairman meets Mr. Javaid Nisar Syed – the founder of Medibank at Lahore to discuss issues of mutual interest and bilateral cooperation. The meeting ended with unconditional and unilateral support of Medibank to all initiatives of TFHI in respect of poor communities served by TFHI. We are thankful to JNS for his generous support to the rural poor of Pakistan with respect to provision of medicines free of cost.


06 February 2015 Chairman TFHI chairs consultative session on e-Health at Lahore

Chairman TFHI chaired the nationwide consultative forum on e-Health at Lahore, organized by “e-Lahore” project of PIID, Islamabad. The meeting was attended by leading philanthropists / development sector experts / civil servants / technology partners and representatives from academia and civil society organizations. The meeting resolved to promote e-Health solution for the remoter segments of society where doctors are generally not available. Kawish Welfare Trust, Medibank, Akhuwat, PIID, NexSource, Plabesk, Wan Miana Model and TFHI made presentations among others on the current scenarios and the way forward. While Kawish offered to make their RTMC (Rural Tele Medicine Centre) services available for a range of tele-medicine facilities, the Medibank offered to provide free medicines to all the poor visiting those facilities.


06 November 2014 Visit of Chairman to CHBC

Chairman visits the newly established project office of CHBC at Quetta; meets the project team and provides them policy guidelines for successful implementation of the project activities. He calls for a high level of motivation with politeness, tolerance and necessary tactfulness for reaching out the communities with potential threat of HIV / AIDS and winning them over to visit the CHBC for necessary counseling, tests and referral to Anti-Retroviral Treatment (ART) Centre, Quetta if needed.


30 October 2014 Launch of CHBC at Quetta

TFHI wins a project to establish CHBC (Community and Home Based Care Centre) for identification, engagement, counseling and referral of HIV suspects / patients at Quetta. The project is funded by the ‘Global Fund’ Switzerland, through implementation support by NACP (National AIDS Control Program) and PACP Balochistan. The project launched on 15th October 2014, in the presence of Mir Rehmat Saleh Baloch, the provincial Health Minister of Balochistan and Mr Arshad Bugti, the Health Secretary, Balochistan.


30 September 2014 TFHI signs project contract with PACP Balochistan

TFHI signs the project contract document with Provincial AIDS Control Program Balochistan for setting up CHBC (Community and Home Based Care Centre) at Quetta with the help of ‘Global Fund’, Geneva. The document signed by the Program Managers on both sides in Islamabad during a graceful ceremony.


24 September 2014 UNAIDS team visits TFHI regional office at Quetta

A senior management team of UNAIDS visited the regional office of TFHI at Quetta and had a detailed meeting with Mr. Kamal Hassan Siddiqui – the Finance Director of Taaleem Foundation and Regional Director of TFHI. The meeting primarily focused on the assessment of TFHI with respect to its capacity to undertake serious and sensitive projects of primary healthcare and public health, including those relating to injecting drug users and PLHIV (People Living with HIV). The hour-long meeting went very successful and the team of UNAIDS recommended TFHI for taking up the projects with the Global Fund, Geneva.


13 September 2013 TFHI monitors TF School Health Services

TFHI team visits Taaleem Foundation Grammar Schools at Pishin and Mastung for gathering and monitoring the data related to school health services. The team comprising a lady doctor and a paramedic examined all the staff members and students and updated the information. This service is being regularly provided to all schools of Taaleem Foundation on gratis basis.


01 January 2012 TFHI and TeleCare jointly launch mobile e-Health in Lower Sindh

TFHI and TeleCare jointly launch mobile e-Health facility in the districts of Tando Mohammad Khan, Mirpur Khas, Umarkot and Tharparkar, Sindh; in partnership with Aman Foundation Karachi and respective district governments. The ambulance-mounted facility remained operational during the recovery phase of monsoon flood disaster of Sindh, i.e., January – June 2012.


11 November 2011 TFHI partners with NDMA for establishing e-Health facility at Badin

TFHI and TeleCare join hands with NDMA (National Disaster management Authority) of Pakistan for establishing and operating e-Health facility at the District Headquarters hospital at Badin during the monsoon disaster of 2011 in Lower Sindh. Dr Fehmida Mirza, Speaker National Assembly inaugurated the facility, along with Mr Timo Pakkala, UN Resident Coordinator in Pakistan.


24 August 2008 TFHI partners with TeleCare Karachi

Taaleem Foundation concludes a meaningful collaboration with TeleCare (www.telecare.mobi), Karachi for health sector research and development initiatives. The negotiations were held during the visit of the Chairman to Karachi on 24th August 2008. TFHI and TeleCare have decided to work together in the areas of public health and health sector R&D in Pakistan.
